Iron Man

Tonight was a night that I will remember for the rest of my life. After the movie having been out for weeks, my wife and I finally got to sit in the theatre and experience the awesomeness that is Iron Man.

If you have not seen it yet, I suggest you let go of your mouse, put some clothes on, and head out right now to your local theatre. This is one of those movies that you will want to see before you die.

It’s hard for me to even speak much about this movie, I am still in shock about the wonderfulness that it is.

I have a couple of quick ideas:

  1. Why am I still using a keyboard, mouse and 2d monitor? And for that matter, with all of the technology at his disposal, and even the ability to manipulate the holographic objects in the display, why did he have to use the light pen?
  2. As a general idea, this one goes with the first: Where’s my freaking jet pack?

If someone put as much time and money into these technologies as they put into reproducing them in a movie, would we be closer? I think that we are too far away from being able to manipulate computer displays as if they were real objects than I would like. Bring me Minority Report stuff, dammit! I want my child to be able to use a computer as if he were messing around with Lego blocks in real life.

Anyway, the movie was absolutely wonderful, so go see it already.
